Why Minneola
The ridgeline with the best commute setup in Lake County.
Minneola's defining feature is geography. The city climbs the slopes of the Sugarloaf Mountain ridgeline, among the highest elevations in Central Florida, which means cooler evenings, storm-water that drains instead of floods, and sunset views that flat-town buyers don't get. The new 2000s-era neighborhoods and the newest master plans share one advantage: the Turnpike, with Del Webb about a mile from the highway and the new interchange at exit 287 serving Hills of Minneola and Cyrene.
The build pipeline here is the most interesting in the region: Lennar's Sugarloaf Ridge, Dream Finders' Hills of Minneola, Meritage's Cyrene, and the coming-soon big two, Tri Pointe's Pine Ridge and Del Webb Minneola, the only fully age-restricted 55+ community in this guide. Lake Apopka, Florida's largest lake, sits to the south, and Lake Minneola stretches along the city's western edge.
Schools are served by the Lake County district, and Minneola is about 25 miles west of downtown Orlando. For buyers who want elevation, new construction, and a Turnpike commute in that order, Minneola is the answer.
