Leesburg has what few Florida suburbs can claim: an honest-to-goodness historic downtown. Main Street restaurants like Prime 3 on Main, the lakefront parks, and seasonal events give it a sense of place that the brand-new master plans cannot fake. The Harris Chain of Lakes wraps the whole thing in water, with boating and fishing minutes from most neighborhoods.
The new construction story is running down the US-27 corridor. Ryan Homes has two active communities here, Morningside Reserve with its one-level plans and the bigger two-product Cedar Landings master plan. Pulte's Highland Pines is on the interest list, Casa Fresca's Orange Bend Ranch is coming on the east side, and Oakstone Farms on CR 44 is active, though the builder name needs confirmation (our roster said Adams Homes; current listings show Maronda Homes).
Leesburg sits about halfway between Orlando and Ocala, so it suits buyers who want lake country, square footage, and a slower commute traffic pattern, with Lake County schools serving the city.
